Scary Dream
I had really disturbing dream last night. Basically I got into a confrontation with another BJJ guy with whom I roll sometimes when I’m in Minnesota. I like this guy very much but for some reason I was gripped in a black rage and I put him in a foot lock and ripped his leg apart. BTW - I don’t know any foot locks but I guess anything goes in dream land. Then I kicked him in the head a few dozen times and stomped off. Later (still in my dream) I was seized with the most intense sense of guilt and remorse and I went to go and apologize. But I was too late. My victim was holding a press conference (!) and the paparazzi were there to heap me with shame. I don’t know what this dream means except that maybe I’m a tool.

Heh - my dreams are pretty much always variations on sex and violence. Last night my subconscious served up a image of me beating up my brother, then trying to hide it from my sister, for some reason (especially weird, as he’s 17, I’m 27 and my sister is 30, so this is not exactly a common scenario). His skin was all lacerated, so I’m guessing it was because I’m peeved at the sunburn I’ve got at the moment?
On a totally unrelated note, you’re in LA, right? I’ve been trying to get some kind of vague travel plan together for next year, which is almost certainly going to involve LA (I have a friend there), so was trying to work out where I could drop in to train. People keep telling me the public transport in LA is pretty terrible: is Hollywood BJJ easy enough to get to by bus, or is that a totally ridiculous proposition?

Hmmm. I actually think it is very easy so long as you’re going East-West. Then all you have to do is take the Santa Monica bus which cuts through the middle of LA down Santa Monica Blvd. Basically you would just have to get off at La Cienega and walk up the hill a short ways. The Santa Monica bus is kind of nice and it’s very cheap. I ride this bus a lot because it’s close to my apt. The subway system in LA is appalling and there’s no easy way to get to Hollywood BJJ from the subway so I wouldn’t bother with that. Man it would be awesome if you could come and hang with us!

Cool! I will have to check out the bus routes carefully then, as I have absolutely no sense of direction. Maybe a Lonely Planet for LA or something?
I’d definitely prefer to train at a place where I can geek out and go “hey, I know you from the internet!”: I’ve really enjoyed doing that at Bullshido Throwdowns, so would be great to do it in the US too. E.g., had a brilliant time in Belfast at the last two TDs there, partially for that reason.
Also, the Renzo link is good, as Roger seems to have a good relationship with those guys. Now I just need to work out travel options: as long as I can tempt my gf with a beach and some scenery, should all be good.
There’s not a way I can track comments on this blog, is there? I’ll try that RSS thingy.
